The data set used for the case study consists of recordings of 2-weekly milk offtakes, together with parity (1 or ≥ 2) and the length of lactation (days), for 467 cows stored in the first Excel worksheet of CS2Data1. As we shall be manipulating the data we have made a copy of the data in a second worksheet in this file. Each cow is identified by the region (herd group) and the herd to which it belongs as described in CS2Doc. Three other datasets are developed during the case study. The results of these are stored in Excel files CS2Data2, CS2Data3 and CS2Data4 and are described as the case study proceeds. Two variables to estimate total lactation yield (TOTYLD and YLD210) are created; these are explained shortly. |
